Federal Mahogany Side Chair

This chair was part of a set of four attributed to Duncan Phyfe, built in New York in the first half of the 19th century. The rear leg had been replaced previously with inferior wood, so it was decided to replace it using a Mahogany board which itself dated to the 19th C. Plugs were inserted in the front legs where screws had been used to hold the chair together. A major restoration!
