English Box Piano dated 1789

     

This piano arrived in terrible condition, but it was structurally sound and the original makers label (done by hand in pen and ink) above the keyboard was intact, so the client and I decided it was worth saving. The marquetry is composed of various woods including boxwood, ebony, satinwood, mahogany and king wood. The keys are the original ivory. Alas, it is not playable.
